ive been copying dvds and they have worked with nero express and windows xp.
added dvdshrink 3.2 and dvdDecrypter to my programs and worked well for about
3 dvds. Now it wont read any copied dvds, or any blank dvds that i put it.
it says i need to reformatt them, even the blanks. my dvd player works with
audio cds, and dvd that i have just bought also. Was there an update that i
should get? any help would be appreciated!!!!!!!!!

Since you added two new video programs, they are prime suspects. I
suggest that you first try to restore the xp to a point just before
both of the new video programs were installed. If that does not work,
uninstall the 2 new programs if they do not get taken out in the
restore. I hope the added programs have not created a problem in the
registry. I may have the wrong program in mind, but there was one
called DVD decrypter, or something of the sort, that was very popular
a few years ago. However the developer of the program in the UK had a
court order to quit development of the code for this and to turn over
his code and website to the media companies. Copies of his program may
still be around for free, However it has not been updated for a long
time and will fail for some newer movies as the media companies keep
changing their methods to prevent copying their DVDs. Also one media
company put some nasty code on their disks that prevented copying on a
computer at all, even for unencrypted media. This caused so many
problems that they had to provide a fix to delete the program they
installed. However a few copies of such "root kit" discs could still
be floating around that did not get replaced by the recall.
