Hi! I have IE 6 and back in May, my IE started not
closing. When I click the X, it just makes a beep
noise. I have to manually shut down the computer in
order to close the IE windows. I have tried uninstalling
IE and reinstalling it, but when I reinstall it, it says
a newer version has been found on the computer. I have
downloaded Netscape to use as my main browser for the
time being, but I'd really like to get IE back. Any help
would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

This is caused by a third-party program (adware, spyware, parasite).
Get AdAware and SpyBot and run them both. Keep them up to date.
