Any help would be appreciated. Had to turn off windows by
holding down power button because it hung up; now seems to
be in a terminal boot cycle. The page for choosing safe
modes or normal startup comes up, but no matter what I
choose, the computer just starts to reboot, bringing up
that page again, over and over. I have no floppy drive
(is a compact laptop). Help!

if you can set the bios to boot from cd
and you have an XP cd all you need to do is boot from your cd
then choose "repair"

you can do a repair installtion
(but you may have to reapply your windows updates)

if your machine did not come with an XP cd
but has a restore CD...you should check with the mfg of your machine.
some restore cd's will wipe out your original sytem upon reinstall
