Hi,

My PC will not start up Windows. I have had it for 5 years without any
problems, it is now the secondary PC for my kids to use. When powering on,
you can see the memory loading up, then the screen momentarily shows the
Intel processor page as normal, then a vibrating noise which I assume is the
hard disk starting up, then nothing. I opened up the PC, reseated the memory,
checked for loose connections but nothing obvious. Anybody any ideas, or is
it a trip to PC World for a new one?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

PS - I tried inserting the recovery disks but nothing happened!

Recovery disks will be useless to fix this - you have hardware failure. The
first and easiest thing to do is swap out the power supply for a
known-working one. Do that and if it doesn't solve the issue, do more
hardware troubleshooting:

Testing hardware failures often involves swapping out suspected parts with
known-good parts. If you can't do the testing yourself and/or are
uncomfortable opening your computer, take the machine to a professional
computer repair shop (not your local equivalent of BigStoreUSA).
