I am running a machine with Windows XP Home edition on an
NTFS. Recently, SBC Yahoo! DSL was installed using their
ethernet adapter. The computer worked fine for a few
days, it was shutdowm and rebooted several times without
a problem. But now when I boot I get the Advanced
Options menu because "windows did not start properly".
No matter what option I choose, the computer freezes and
will not continue.
Even when I let the timer run out, it hits zero and
freezes.
Any ideas?
I have reinstalled system files using sys.com, I have
tried both fixboot and fixmbr from the Recovery Console.
I have ran extensive hardware diagnostics and everything
comes up perfectly. I have even tried booting after
removing all unnecessary hardware - pci cards, cd drives,
etc. Same effect, no error messages. Just freezes.
Can anyone help?
