My network consist of a W2k Domain and 300 XP client computers. When we
arrive this morning clients had notification stating ""Windows was unable to
find a certificate to log you on to the network" in network tray. I disabled
in
AuthenticationTab in Network properties the Enable IEEE authentication for
this network and seems it is now working fine, but how did this happen and
disabling this feature affects my network? Is it a way to populate this
changes to all my machines through an AD policy or something?

Any help would be greatly appreciated
Regards
Oswaldo.

Hi Oswaldo,

Thanks for the posting. I did some research and found the following
solution. Please look at this solution.

Why do I receive a "Windows was unable to find a certificate to log you
into the network" error message?
============================================================================
==============
A "Windows was unable to find a certificate to log you into the network"
message appears if you have IEEE 802.1x selected but are not running in a
802.1x (EAP) environment.

Use the following steps to disable network access control using IEEE
802.1x.

Right-click the Wireless Network Connection icon in the system tray.

Click View Available Wireless Networks.

In the Wireless Network Connection Properties dialog box, click the
Authentication tab.

On the Authentication tab, click to clear the Enable network access control
using IEEE 802.1x check box, and then click OK.
Note: Windows XP has this enabled by default.

I hope the above the information will solve the problem.

Thanks,
