Your first problem sounds like an unknown program stealing focus, and taking
random keystrokes as input. You'll need a program like Process Explorer,
watching what programs are active, when this keystroke stealing happens.

Your visibility (lack of it) is probably caused by a personal firewall problem,
or a NetBT setting inconsistency.

You did set the Vista NLT to Private?

Paranoia is not a problem, when it's a normal response from experience.
My email is AT DOT
actual address pchuck mvps org.

I am having a similar problem with all programs that I use, i.e., Wordperfect
12 and Outlook 2003. The computer seems to be accessing the hard drive and
forgets about the keyboard. It is as though the computer had a mini-stroke
lasting about 5 seconds. I was told the only solution is to revert to XP. Any
advice?
