Asking again, anyone know about "blank screen"? That is what it is called
when it is in my tray. But the problem is there are times when it is totally
blank, white from top to bottom and side to side, no tray, no nothing and I
have to shut down manually. Now I even have a shortcut on my desk top that
says "about blank screen" but when I open it, there is nothing but a blank
screen. I feel like I am in the twilight zone. What is going on?

holy cow, your post makes no sense!

if a program is running that is blank, don't run it!

if it's needed, look for an update. calling it "blank screen" doesn't help.
I'm sure it has a real name. check the file name.

if you don't want it running on startup, then don’t let it. Windows Defender
has control over startup items. so does MSConfig. you can download a program
"AutoRuns" that will let you control what starts up as well.

if it really is called "Blank Screen", and it's a blank screen, and you don’t
want to run it -then DON'T.

anyone with a programming tool can create something that gives a blank
screen.

No, it is not set to a blank page, not to sound rude, but if I did set it, I
wouldn't be asking what it is. Could it have gotten set that way by itself?
My home page is Yahoo, the totally white page just came on one day and I had
not clue how to get anything to come on. So if it can be set that way, it can
be "unset" how do I do that?

I didn't try the escape keyor the Ctrl+Alt+Del, I will try that next time.

Thanks to both of you for responding.

Also, the "about:blank" is on my desktop as a shortcut, when it is pops on,
it is totally white no address bar, nothing else on the page, when I say
blank, I mean blank, like a white blank paper covering the entire screen. If
it is a virus, my virus proctector tatally missed it and is still missing it
when it does its daily sweeps.
