windows vista

i have windows vista rc-1 on dvd can someone tell me if i install this on my
hard drive 150 gb which has xp on it at the moment will i lose all my
doc,music,programs etc that is already on my c;drive or will vista keep these
and just replace my xp o.s.

An UPGRADE install should retain those files, but that is not guaranteed.

RC1 is a TEST program. Unless you truly know what you are doing, which
does not appear to be the case, Vista should not be mingled or
substituted for a working XP system that cannot be restored fully.

Rob DONT install Vista unless you are absolutely certain of what you are
doing.Once installed there is no going back to XP if you install it onto the
same drive.Unless you understand drive partitioning ( not as easy as it
sounds)..then refrain from installing until the final version is available in
Jan 2007. That way you can enjoy VISTA and have the neccessary technical back
up available if problems arise.
