Ira Wolfson

morning...

having trouble creating a work-network between xp computer(physically
conected to wireless router->modem->internet) and my new laptop (via
wireless network)

there IS contact but the network does not show the XP computer.

no help in the HELP content.
checked workgroup setting etc.

The workgroup names have to be the same. I believe the default names for XP
and Vista are different. Check and make sure.

Hi
Successful Sharing involves some general consideration in Network settings,
http://www.ezlan.net/sharing.html
As well as specific adjustment of each computer according to what it is
allowed to be shared.

I wish you posted the results of both computers ipconfig /all.

Since they can ping each other by IP, do you receive any error if using this
command net view \\remotepcipaddress? Please post back with the result.

thank you,
after lots and lots and lots of research, the answer was in plain view...
it appears that not only in XP but also in VISTA

a GUEST account dont play nice with the networking feature...
another FUN feature by Miscrosoft! wooptidoo
