I had an IDE DVD burner installed when I originally built this machine and it
worked for a while. When it stopped working I though is was bad so I did some
research and bough an Pioneer DVD-212D which was on the list of approved
devices for Vista X64.
The drive shows up fine in the bios and Windows finds it and installs a
driver for it.
The problem is it has an error 39 and the date for the driver is 2006.
Installed SP1 and still not working.
How do I get a driver for it that will work?

Been there. 3. "Will the drive work with Microsoft® Windows® Vista?
Yes, the drive works with All Microsoft Windows versions. This
WHQL-certified drive does not require specific drivers to work in Windows
operating systems."

But what did they say was the probable cause of error 39? I didn't think
you were asking about a driver.

Yes I am looking for the correct driver! Vista wants to load a generic cd rom
driver.
Pioneer is looking in to the issue.
