Windows Vista wants a new activation code

I've had windows Vista for about 4 months. Installed with no problems and
activiated as normal. About a week ago I had a warning saying that it needed
to be reactivated because of a hardware change - but I havnt done one. Having
done a bit of research it appears some games not compatible with Vista can
cause this to happen - In my case I believe settlers 2. Now I have removed
the game - but Vista still will not let me activate - saying the code is
already in use - but I know it isnt!

How can I sort this?

Thanks...

Hi,

Once triggered, there is no undoing the need to reactivate. Use the phone
option, and if the automated process fails hold on the line to get a real
person to assist you. In addition to software, driver updates have also been
documented to cause this problem.

Use phone activation to sort it out. To force the dialog use the following
command:

you can hit Winkey-R
and type "slui 4" in the command box (no quotes)

Pick a county to get the phone number you need. Call it. Slog through the
automated sequence, then *stay on the line* until a human answers. Explain
your situation and you should get the help you need.
