The first question I would ask is WHY are you trying to install a
Service Park for something so old? Net Framework is up to version 3.0.
So unless you have some specific application that demands it must have
version 1.1 you shouldn't have it on your system.

Download Microsoft Windows Installer CleanUp utility

Remove .NET Framework with Windows Installer Clean Up.

download the Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0

The first question that I have for Adam is why aren't you in the barn with
your Sheep? Just FYI

I don't even know what a service pack is.....But i see in my Windows Update
History that Windows has automatically downloaded and installed updates for
..NET Framework 3.0....would this mean I could ignore downloading the Version
1.1 update and function properly?

Windows update history shows successful update download and installation to
..NET Framework 3.0......Does this mean I already have the latest version and
can ignore the 1.1 update that won't install? I have no idea what a service
pack is...please bear with my ignorance on this subject...thanks

Yes. If you needed the older version, you would probably get that message
when you ran some application.

I'd like to know how to remove the "new Update Icon" if it's not needed?

my windows update keeps sending me updates for my vista home
premium....servic pack 2 and now sp3....both "important" Neither one
installs. M-soft tells me to hide the updates.
I think they should install.
any sugestions?

haj,

Are you sure it's not referring to another OS, such as Win XP. Did you do an
upgrade from Win XP or a clean install with Vista Premium. Vista doesn't
have an SP2 or SP3. If it's for Win XP I certainly would hide it. But read
the details of the update anyway.

I had the same problem as Jemima - carried out the clean up, but now, when I
try to reinstall the .NET Framework passage, the installation fails with the
error that it is already installed as part of the OS installation.
I think I just caught site of the back of my head!
Any ideas?????
