I downloaded the trial version of Microsoft Vista and it placed a partial
home page(thumbnail) on my desktop in the upper left hand corner which seems
to affect my desktop icons. I tried to delete this with negative results. I
found it in the desktop properties under customize>web section and click on
delete again with negative results. Its not listed in add/remove programs but
I found it in the registry but did not execute any action because I'm not
sure what it will do to the registry. How can I delete this? Thank you.

Curious, as there is no trial version of Vista available. Where exactly did
you get this "trial"?

There isn't a trial version of Windows Vista what you have is a pirated
version of the first beta release. The Microsoft Vista project manager
admitted that this first beta had only a fraction of the features working-it
was intended only for serious developers and experts and by all accounts is
a very dull product at the moment. It certainly should not be used for
anything remotely serious. You might as well play around with the registry
because at this time no one outside MS has expert experience of Vista and
you will be lucky to get help. I hope you are using a spare PC and not your
day to day machine, because you will most likely have to fall back on your
disk image to solve this. Microsoft are close to releasing the second
beta-probably in May-this has a much fuller feature set and more support for
hardware. Again it will be buggy and slow-that is what a beta is, but it
will be more representative of the final product-sorry not to be of more
help.
