I'm in the market for a new laptop and I was wandering if it's too early to
buy a laptop with Win Vista?
Last time I read about it most experts were advising people to wait a few
months but that was in October.

Thanks

J

I've been running Windows Vista Ultimate here since RTM in November of
2006. It's been completely stable, and I have no problems with it.

If you were asking whether to upgrade an existing machine, my answer
would be that there may not be a good reason to do that, but on a new
machine, I see no reason not to get the newest operating system.

Nonsense. Dell sells them for sure, and some other OEMs probably do
too. And you can always build a computer or have a custom one built
with XP, if that's what you want.

Post facts not your emotions.

Correct - I did exactly that just a couple of weeks ago (Christmas gift
for wife).

Yup, and I just did too.
I'm gonna see if I can get weened off of Win98SE and DOS, but I am doing so
with some trepidation. :-)

(At one point I was thinking of converting the XP computer to FAT32 when I
get it, so at least I'd still have the DOS recovery techniques at my
disposal. I think I've been reading that isn't really necessary anymore,
as WinXP using NTFS is pretty robust, and the Recovery Console is the
savior. Still......

I'd wait until SP1 for Vista is released and watch for reports of how well
it works.
If most people say that Vista with SP1 is good...then go for it.
