Windows Vista Startup Failure

Hi,

I have installed RC1 Build 5600 using an upgrade from Windows XP. It
installs successfully. But after it has finished preparing for the first run,
the mouse cursor appears along with a black background and after a few
seconds, restarts the computer. It stays the same even though I restarted the
computer. BIOS settings are set to fail-safe settings. All hardware are Vista
capable. Drivers are all Vista included. I have already removed unnecessary
hardware.

Please help in this. Thanks!

Hi Seroyen,

The Drivers may have bugs in them. You need to turn off Automatically
Restart in order to see the Driver causing the problem.

I had this identical problem with a XP to RC2 upgrade and solved in by going
to control panel in XP, doing an uninstall of the video adapter, and then
proceeding with the Vista upgrade from DVD. It installed perfectly. Also
makje sure you have removed the applications that are not yet Vista
compatible such as Antivirus software etc.

Good luck and let us know what finally fixes the problem.

Hi Gerry,

Thank you very much for the information. However, Windows Vista still failed
to run. It is still the same problem. It does not have any blue screen of
death. It just blacks out and restarts the whole system. I have tried running
in Safe Mode and Disabled automatic system restart on system crash. However,
it still blacks out as usual. Could it be the problem with my Intel Matrix
Storage Driver? In Windows XP I am supposed to insert the driver disk during
setup (The F6 Command), but Windows Vista does not provide an option. Hope I
will get help with this.

Once again, thanks alot for the suggestion :)

Hi thecreator,

Thanks for suggesting. Unfortunately the computer does not display the Blue
Screen Of Death. It just blacks out and restarts the system. Any idea what
that means?

Hi Seroyen,

If that is the case, then you need to let Microsoft know about that bug
with Vista, by filling out the Feedback form. Did you apply the changes
after you had Uncheck Automatically restart? After unchecking, click Apply
then OK.

Hi,

I'm so sorry I have made you misunderstand. How I have disabled automatic
restart is by selecting advanced startup options during boot-up. The solution
which you have provided is used when I log on to Windows, but I could not
even get into Windows.

Thanks for your help, anyway. I have provided feedback to Microsoft and have
yet to receive a reply from them.

Hi Seroyen,

You mentioned Build RC1. Currently Microsoft had released RC2 Build of
Vista. Perhaps Microsoft may have fixed your error in that built. Also, from
what I understand, Microsoft reads all Feedback, but doesn't respond to any,
in order to concentrate on getting Vista ready for the Public.

Hi,

Currently RC2 is already not available for download. Any idea where to get
it? Still trying for the tenth time to install ;)

Seroyen

RC 2 can no longer be downloaded. A limited number of downloads were made available and they disappeared very quickly.
