Well I am completly dumb or what? I heard you will get a copy of RTM if you
submitted bugs in the feedback , But what I did was submitting bugs here in
help and support, so I guess I will not have a RTM of Vista to try out, What
I suggest is that every CPP could download Vista RTM, not just for the bugs ,
just to see if Windows Vista is compatible with their PC's what I mean is how
Microsoft expects that everyone who buy Windows Vista in January is going to
buy also a brand new Pc if this OS is not compatible with their PCs. is a lot
pain to everyone wallet, and not everyone can afford this 2 buys in one month.

No the CPP program never had any such offer or condition. There was
never a statement about any free copies for CPP or any other program
submitting bug reports.

You can test your compatibility with the upgrade advisor at

No you only buy Vista for an existing PC if your machine is compatible
and the link above will assist you in that.

You will also be able to download a time limited trail version if you
want to "test compatibility" with your PC. This will be available
shortly.

Anyone know what the trial time-frame period for the public downloadable RTM
will be ?

Thanks : )

Chris

CPP does not get a copy of RTM for filing bugs. That offer is for TechBeta
participants only. MS has not said whether or not they will be making an
evaluation available for download, but they did say December 1st for a trial
of Office 2007.

Thanks for fast replies, anyway I am also talking for the people who are no t
geeks, like mom and dad, ;( , when they buy vista they will not know nothing
about an upgrade advisor if Microsoft don't do an announcement on news or TV
.. for that to happen. just imagen how many people don't even know that Vista
exist.

If Santa is listening ;-)

What would be a nice gesture by Microsoft, would be to offer any of the CPP
participants that stuck with Vista throughout, a reduced price of the final
version. We did, after all, help to some small degree in the debugging of
the betas.

Just a thought

I certainly wouldn't purchase a new machine at this time unless the
manufacturer GUARANTEED in writing that it is "Made for Vista", and
unless they provide a free, or nominally-priced upgrade to Vista.
Otherwise, you are only going to meet frustration down the line.

In addition, there will probably be at least one "free" Trial version
of Vista once it is released to the General Public. But I do not
speak for Microsoft, of course.

All I know is that Microsoft has almost always released a "free" trial
version of its current OS, which usually works for 120 days. Whether
they will with Vista or not is still not a published fact, as far as I
know.

120 days should be plenty of time to decide whether a new OS works on
your machine or not.

Heck, 2 hours should be enough time to make that decision, for that
matter. I always know whether a new Microsoft OS is going to work on
my current machine within the first hour of installation, so 120 days
should be plenty of time to make that decision.

Not happening. It would be nice, but the RCs have run their course. It has
been a fun ride, but now the ride is over.. Just be glad you got to be a
part of it so far.

And I guess we will wait for the next big thing. :-)

You have just rewarded me with the longest run-on sentence I have ever read
in a newsgroup.

Thank you.
