With windows XP we use to be able to run a repair of windows in wich it would
re-install itself on top and fix any errors.. Now with Vista I was wondering
If you can do the same thing or not.. I tried on a customer's Pc in wich he
has Vista Business Upgrade.. The only thing that I found was either a:
repair Startup problems(which doesnt re-intall windows but just finds bootup
errors and fixes them.. or B:install Vista again wich will destroy data on
the hd..

I just want to re-install vista on top of itself and keep all data intact..ty

The short answer is no this feature is not available in Vista.

The XP repair function was not always reliable.. I guess that is why it
was taken out..

I haven't heard any specific reason why it was removed. It may not have
been 100% reliable but it works in many cases so it's too bad this feature
was not carried over.

I have to be honest here and say that I didn't find it all that good.. I
considered that I was lucky if it completed without a hitch..
