I am glad they did this. It was a good decision to change their minds and
let CPP have 5728.

They had better do something other wise vista is going to be a big flop,
there will be hell raised when people find out their programs won't work,
with xp at least win 2k software would work, with vista most xp programs
won't work, that's bullshit.

This is only a 32-bit release currently. Use the existing CPP keys that you
have, and also burn the ISO at a slow speed.

As per usual MSDN subscribers get screwed over again, the public can get
this, yet MSDN paying susbscribers are still being offered RC1.

Why should anyone bother paying for MSDN Subscriber downloads?

I assume that the DVD I receive in several weeks will be worthless when it
arrives, and since I have Satelite and can't download I'm out of luck.

Why can't you download with satellite?

Useless? I should say not. 5600 is still the reference build that devs
have to use to qualify their products for the Vista Logo program. It is
entirely possible that the changes in 5728 are in areas that don't even
affect you. Perhaps you can find someone with a fast internet connection
who will download 5728 for you, but if not don't worry about it. There is
nothing revolutionary to see.

Maybe for some of the other downloads, access to technical help,
documentation, etc. If you paid for a MSDN subscription to download beta
products you overpaid for something that is free :-)

I agree, but you can use the MSDN keys with these public downloads. The
download files are exactly the same.

I'm more upset that MSDN members do not get any special treatment for
bug-reporting.

Well that was well hidden.
Thanks for the heads up.
Have you installed it yet? What improvements are there please?

I am installing now. what I don't like is I must turn off firewall, cannot
even use the windows firewall or the download fails.

If I exceed approximately 350meg in 4 hours I get reduced to a download
speed of 8k for about a day. It would take a week of careful monitoring to
get the 4gig file downloaded. :-((

Thanks. Guess I will install when it finally arrives. Had planned to
install both 32 and 64 bit. Will most of the programs from x64 run on the
Vista64? How was the experience with hardware? I would like to stick to a
64-bit system but don't want to make a major investment again until I have
true 64-bit program needs, which at the moment I don't. Also, if one
installs 32 bit Vista, do they have to buy another copy of Vista to switch
to 64-bit later or can they make a lateral switch with the original setup?
Heard anything?

Hmm thats a bummer. Got a friend who could download it for you?

I live in an area where satellite is the only high speed option or I would
have DSL or Cable high speed. Could drive 80 miles to a city with cable and
stay at a hotel with DSL but it isn't worth it.
