Windows Vista RC1 Install Complications

I am very anxious to start using Windows Vista. When I insert my Install DVD
Disc (where I've burned the image) a message pops up saying "Setup can not
run on this version of the Operating System. To install Windows please try
booting from the install media." I am using Windows XP Media Center Edition
2005. I then proceed to shut down my computer. When it is off, I turn it back
on. The Install Disc is then read and a screen comes up saying "Press any
button or key to run boot." So, then I press a key on my keyboard. When
Windows boots up, I get the XP login screen and I login to my account.
Nothing else happens. Am I doing something wrong?

It sounds like you have downloaded and are attempting to install the 64-bit
edition of Vista RC1 (x64).

Start with the obvious: do you have a 64-bit processor (CPU)? If not, you
will need to download, burn and install the 32-bit version of Vista RC1
(x86).

Good Luck!

That makes sense. Ill give it a shot.

Well, before you do, how about letting us know if that's the issue? Do you
or do you not have a 64-bit processor? Did you download the 32-bit or the
64-bit version of Vista RC1?

I had the same error message come up as well. I am using the 64 bit version
on and AMD Athlon 64 - 3500+ CPU.

Thanks

You can not run a 64-bit application (Setup.exe on the Windows Vista x64
DVD) from within a 32-bit Operating System (XP Home, XP MCE, XP Pro x86).
You have to boot from the DVD.
