After installing Vista RC1, I can no longer log in for more than about 25
seconds before I get a blue screen of death referring to P17.SYS. I have a
Creative SB Audigy LS sound card, and I've been reading that sound cards seem
to be the main issue with Vista at this point, but I can't keep my computer
running long enough to disable the card and update the drivers! I tried
running in safe mode with networking, but then I couldn't even log into the
system, it said my account didn't exist. I tried to log in as Administrator,
but it said the administrator account was disabled. Windows even says the
problem is in the Creative SB driver, I just can't get the computer to stay
running long enough to fix it. (I don't know if this has anything to do with
it, or if it's just coincidence, but whenever the internet connection finally
kicks in and my instant messengers start connecting is when I get the error.)
Aside from taking the card out completely, what else can I try?
