Well... I am proud to say that I've successfully installed RC2 today. It
took about 20-25 mins. It recognized all of my hardware with no problems.
Also, I am extremely please with the performance. In fact, I will say that
it seems much faster that XP.

I did notice one thing though... when I review my CPU performance, I notice
my CPU is running around 20-45% when doing nothing. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Yoshi

I would recommend you look in process monitor and sort the prcs by CPU
usage.

I had a similar problem with RC1 caused by the indexing service.

I must say in RC2 my system is flying. I have very low idle CPU around 2%
even with sidebar and other apps open.

Please post the service that is using the CPU cycles whilst the user is not
present.

Kind regards,

Jim.

I always have sidebar running and my cpu runs at about 2%
However at times it runs at 30-40% I've checked processes when it has done
this and found that DWM.EXE was using the resources and from what I
understand DWM.EXE is a component of aero glass

Yoshi, this is going into the JPW (Just Plain Weird) file:

On my Vista RC2 system, with Windows Mail, two IM clients (one with a window
open in the background), Windows OneCare, and various and sundry apps and
processes (sixty-three processes), my CPU usage is somewhere between nil and
eight percent. And this is *old hardware* (P4 2.6 Northwood-C, 1 GB DDR400,
ATI AIW 9700 Pro). XP would use more resources than that.
