I tried downloading the OneCare beta for my Vista RC1 computer but I got:
Error ID: 0019-80070643. It gets about halfway to installing and then comes
with this error. I have a Dell XPS M170 laptop with 1 gb of memory and run
Windows Aero. I tried using the help center but I couldn't get the chat to
work. Thanks

Aero is a theme. If you mean the special effects, that is call "Aero
Glass." Report it using the Feedback icon on your desktop.

I don't know what the error means, as I have no inside info on this, but you can
post to the OneCare forums here:
http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowForum.aspx?ForumID=1001&SiteID=2
There is a topic for 1.5 beta discussions.

I know what Aero is, my main question is what does this error mean and have
other people using Aero have this problem. And what can I do to fix it, I
want to put OneCare on my computer again.

Steve,
How come yours isn't part of "communities"?
Why can't we get to it from OE;in XP; or Windows Mail; in Vista?
That other way is a PITA.

Jeff

Whether others have the issue with or without Aero turned on, report it.
Since you cannot access the bug database, you have no reliable way to know
if others have encountered the problem. Less than 1% of the testing base
post in the newsgroups with any regularity so this is not a good measure
either.

Checkout the vista security newsgroup, I had the same problem, as did
others.
It took me 3 tries to install it. Hint: Uninstall any Avast, AVG or
PC-illin, etc. first as OneCare doesn't seem to be able to do it during
installation.

Yeah I had the same problem and error code.
It took like 5 times trying to install and rebooting between before it
finally *took*.

I had a problem uninstalling Trend Micro PC Cillin before installing
OneCare.
Windows uninstaller wouldn't uninstall it. OneCare couldn't uninstall it
either.
So I had to use the PCTool to get rid of it.

From the e-mail I received:
What operating systems are supported?

Windows XP SP2 or Windows Vista (build 5500 or greater; recommended build is
5600 aka RC1). OneCare is currently not available for x64 operating
systems..

Hello SBoots,
Strange to see you here. Nice that the public gets a Newsgroup but how much
can I help them there?
