What newsgroup is for Vista? I haven't made a decision yet, to buy a new
notebook with Vista, or purchase one that is XP.
Thanks in advance.
Bob

Hi

Try here, but you'll need to be using a News Reader:

C'mon, Gerry, Will. You're not answering Bob's question. Bob, my opinion is
that you should buy a notebook with Vista already installed, because of
Vista's high hardware requirements. XP notebooks can still be upgraded
though, but they can be a bit more sluggish than Vista.

Bob

Will Denny gave Bob a newsgroup link. That's all that was requested. I
cannot see that his question was not answered!

Hope this helps.

Since Outlook Express is NOT available on Vista, he will have three choices for
a Usenet client:

HE can use the client which is built into Windows Mail.
HE can use the Microsoft CDO Webreader
He can use a third-party Usenet client, such as Forte's Agent.

See here for a listing of alternate Usenet clients:

Although my opinion is the same as yours for someone who wants Vista, it's
for a completely different reason. I don't think there's any problem
configuring a notebook yourself to meet Vista's hardware requirements,
regardless of what operating system comes with it. As far as I'm concerned,
the reason to buy a notebook with Vista installed is to be sure you have
Vista drivers for all the hardware on the notebook.

What you say is true but it is not the point! Will Denny was implying,
unless I am mistaken, that the Vista newsgroups are best read using
Outlook Express, given the number of messages being posted.
