Ive noticed everyone seems to be using the Windows Vista Ulitmate Edition...
is there ways to install Vista in the other release versions as well? (Home
basic, Home Pro, Ultimate, etc, etc....)

I would be interested in experimenting with the stripped-down versions of
Vista as well as the full package...

I believe it's all in the key.
Most people here have received only one key, typically for Ultimate.

There are several keys available under our MSDN AA subscription, but only
the two downloads (x86 and x64). Conclusion: the key drives the edition to
be installed.

You may install any version of Vista you wish, since all are included on the
DVD. The issue lies with the Product Key that has been issued to you, in
that it will only activate one version. If you install a different version,
you may use it for 14 days before it stops working.
