My computrr crashed and I had not finished making my system cd's. I
couldn't afford a new xp cd so i installed vista. Now my cpu runs at 100%
almost all the time, I can't load any game cd's, my tv card won't work, and
many more prplems have occurred. Does anyone know what I can do to fix vista
or get my friend xp home back cheap. I am A DISABLED VET AND ON A VERY FIXED
INCOME. HELP PLEASE.

You can try contacting your computer manufacturer. They often replace or
supply the installed os on a cd for around $10. Not sure why you ignored
all the warnings about putting Vista on a primary personal computer.

If you have a computer that meets the Vista standard, first I would suggest
you try to re-load Vista. If that doesn't do the trick. Check to see if your
"Restore Drive" is still in tact. If you still have your restore partition,
you can always restore Win XP back to it's original state.
Worst case, if you have removed your restore partition, and you can't get a
re-load of Vista to work, you can call your computer manufacturer and
request restoration disks. I know with HP, they cost about $35.00. But I
would check option A and option B first.

NOTE: If you still have your restore partition, and crashed and you weren't
able to complete the restore disks, you NEED to call your manufacturer, let
them know the issue, and they should be able to provide restore disks, most
likely, free of charge.

After you get your computer back up on XP, with the restore drive, make sure
that you keep that restore sector there, no matter what you load.

I hope this helps :-)

Or if you have the product key, you could just borrow the CD from your
friend to install it and use your product key for activation.

Just a friendly reminder:

(1) Make sure you have all necessary hardware drivers ready before
installing XP Home again.

(2) Make sure to backup important files, documents, and data first.

If you have any problems related to XP, you could visit this group:
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general

Hope this helps.

PS: cross posted to the xp group.

For XP can you find someone who has the same installation of XP - same
vendor and type of XP such as Home or Pro? If so copy their installation
CDs but use your key.

Next option is to contact the computer vendor tech support to get a
replacement set of restore CDs. Usually these can be had for a low cost.

3rd option is buy an XP OEM version with some low cost piece of hardware.

Getting Vista to work for you doesn't sound like a long term solution,
particularly if it's one of the beta versions.

You cannot use your Windows XP key on another installation of XP.

What exactly are you talking about? The XP CD is not unique. It will work
with any CD of that same type, so copying another XP CD of the same time and
using it to install XP with your key is fine.

Correct.
