I am planning on performing a clean install when I upgrade to Vista, and I
just wanted to know: Can I format the hard drive and then install Vista from
the installer itself? I've seen a screenshot of someone doing this, and when
they selected the hard drive to install it on, I saw a button that said "Disk
options" on the bottom of the screen; would this take me to the area where I
could reformat the hard drive. Any information will be appreciated.

Yes, you can.

Stick the Vista DVD in the drive, ensuring that a boot from CD drive is
arranged, restart the system. Congratulations, you are off to the races.
Google for "clean install of Vista" and check out the endless information
that search will provide. Needless to say, you will need to find, download
and burn to a CD all the Vista drivers for your various soundcards, modems,
video cards and other hardware before doing anything else.

Oh, I've definitely done that. And to the poster above, I am going to use
the Full Install Disc, not the upgrade one. But I suppose the options are
still the same in it.

Yes, you will be able to format and partition your hard drive after your
Vista installation disk boots. The Microsoft website has lots of
information regarding clean installations of Vista. You have lots of
options available to you in the process.
