Hi
when my pc updates I get the validation tool every now and again. Is it
neccesary to d/l this tool each time it appears? or should I tell it not to
d/l it anymore?

When you are prompted to download the Windows Validation Tool,
it is usually because it is a new or updated version. Therefore, you
should download it.

Of course, the only person to benefit from this download is MS, not the
user, but what else is new?

Sure, just think about it. It's been about a month since the OS was
successfully /validated/ last. I'm almost certain someone have broken
into the OP's computer and replaced the previously installed WinXP for
one identical but unvalidatable, while managing to leave all installed
software and all settings undisturbed. What aren't the odds of that?

If one just keep validating ones copy long enough, disregarding all the
times it passes, eventually one will get to the one time the
software-tool will tell you the real truth.

I don't know why, but the following post of mine was censored:

No it wasn't. I saw it in windowsxpbasics. What's with the crossposting?.

Craig

And you're using MS' servers? My post is still on Google. It was just
removed from MS' servers.

I was just responding to a cross posted message. Yaknow, like you just did?

I don't think it was removed. Using MS servers here and can see your
earlier post to this thread.

You see two with this message:?

The MS servers have the hiccups this morning. I have seen several posts
where message is no longer available on server message appears when clicking
on the post.

It's been like that for a week or two. Microsoft has been changing
their nntp servers around and some disruptions and glitches have
happened. I had one post disappear into etherland about a week ago and
I assure you the post was nothing more than a suggested fix to a problem
someone had asked about, nothing foul, profane or critical at Microsoft.
