can i upgrade another computer that i have from win 2000
to xp without buying another xp product. this will be a
computer for my children and will not be connected to the
internet. how do i delete win 2000 from that computer so
that i can install another windows prduct?

If you wish to upgrade over Windows 2000, you'll have to
purchase and install Windows XP Professional. Each installation
of Windows XP, installed on a different computer, requires its
own license (Product Key). Otherwise, XP's Product Activation
will fail on the second installation.

I am uncertain what you mean by "without buying another xp product." If you
currently have a copy of XP installed on another system the answer is you
cannot legally install the same copy of XP on more than one system.
Microsoft has integrated a protection called Windows Product Activation that
will stop you from doing so. Read about it here

You are saying that you want to remove Windows 2000 and install XP. You can
use Windows XP Home version or Windows XP Pro. If you have a copy of the
Windows 2000 CD then you can get by with *purchasing* the Upgrade version of
either XP Home or Pro. There are detailed instructions here
