is it reliable? the last time when i upgraded to win xp i had to fork out
for new mobo ram and cpu and graphics card to get it going, i know it is
expensive and the advisor, albeit is still in beta release, is saying that
it is ready for upgrade, just dont wanna get shot in the foot again with
this upgrade marlarky, i have already spent enough last year

Hi,

It's reliable insofar as it will report *known* incompatibilities. If an
unknown one exists on your system, then it cannot possibly predict it.

Have you checked with the manufacturer of the system or the hardware
components to see if they are all Vista compatible or have drivers
available? That'd be my first step before considering an upgrade. Realize
too that some manufacturers don't jump on the bandwagon all that quickly, so
drivers and supporting software from them may be 12 months down the road.
