windows updates

Got a new system with XP Home SP1. Automactic Update has d/led SP2 but I
have not installed it yet. Windows Update says I need 12 other updates.
Should I get SP2 first or the other 12 or does it matter?

Is the info for installing SP2 at
http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/spackins.htm current? Do I really need to do
all that?
 
Hi Stan,

The information on that link is still relevant, you should heed the warnings
about checking for spy/ad ware especially. Any major upgrade can cause
problems, even if everything is done correctly, backing up critical data
remains to be an important safeguard. As to the Service Pack, install it
first, then go back and pick up the rest of the updates.
