Windows Updater Crashing my Computer

Had the same issue with windows98 second edition, although now it is XP.

Reference urls:
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp

When going to do a routine update, the scan completes and displays a list of updates that are available. All good except, when I start to scroll down the list and read specifics about the updates listed, I get massive crashes, and consistently, over and over, at that same point.

Anybody have this issue before and resolve it?

I got error messages but eventually fond they were probably because
the download had started in background.
my ISP cut me off after 80 mins, panic.
reconnected and continued from where it left off.
Not sure which of updates to install yet?
