windows update

Whatever I try in order to get into windows update it
keeps coming up as page unavailable. I have been in
Internet options under temporary Int. files, then clicked
on settings to view objects. I then scroll down to the
update class file and it tells me that it is damaged. How
can I possibly reverse this in XP.

If you know when it was damaged you can "System Restore"
to go back before it happened.
Otherwise I think it might mean re-installing XP.
Have you tried just going to the windaws update web page
instead of using that link?

I have tried all you have suggested. I can do system
restore up until some time in October then it tells me
that it can't be restored.
