When I try to use windows update, it downloads the update
starts to install and then it will stop and give an error
message saying: The software you are installing has not
passed windows logo testing to verify its compatability
with windows XP. Is there a virus I dont know about
because the software I am downloading is for windows.

It also says: contact your system Administrator, well as
far as I know I am the adminitrator.

Please Help

It sounds like you are trying to update a driver. Don't take the drivers
from MS updates. Go to the web-site for the hardware and download the driver
from them. Windows update drivers tend to be problematic.

LOL, JAX

sorry to tell you this, microsoft is the administrator, and they will tell
you when your computer is working or not! How dare you question the

Netscape nothing works correctly?

From MVP Kelly: Click Start, Run and enter REGSVR32 WINTRUST.DLL

If you're having specific issues with DirectX 9 or Media Player 9, see

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm, Line 189. Download the appropriate REG file for your situation and double click it. Answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad.

What do you mean "nothing works correctly?" Are you having/implying an
objective problem? ... seems more like frustration at old M$...

Run services.msc

Scroll to cryptography. If it is disabled, set it to automatic, reboot and
get the updates again.
