windows update

Every Wednesday evening I have been updating winXp using
the Help and Support window update feature. It seems to
be working. In some newsnet posts I keep reading about
going to the microsoft.com/update website and downloading
the updates.

Which method is best to use? H&S or website?

I heard on a popular radio computer talk show that
Wednesday is the day microsoft releases updates.

I have automatic update with notify set but it does not
seem to function because notify does not show up in
taskbar.

I think the most important thing is just to get those security updates
installed. Personally, I use the start menu shortcut to get to the site:
Start> Programs>Windows Update. Unless there is great urgency in getting a
security update out sooner, late Wednesday afternoon is about the time newly
available updates appear.
