Windows update

I have noticed that to date, 6/11/06 I have received no security or critical
updates for Windows XP. I am running XP Pro. have all the service packs
installed. What happens is when I click on Windows update, I get this
message:- "Windows could not update because one of the following services is
not running : Automatic updates, which it is: BITS, which is also enabled."
Can anyone help? I have looked at services msc. and everything is ok. Please
help, as I am getting concerned. Thanks to anyone who can assist.

Is there an error code?

Perhaps try the Windows Update newsgroup:
