windows update

When I try to update my software Microsoft explorer hangs
and I need to restart my pc to go back on the net.

Any ideas on what is causing this?

wednesday evening is best time to update
use start->help and support window to do updates.
h&s downloads and updates at same time.
go for restroom break and get cold beer and things are
updated. bang
