I can't get Service pack 1 to install properly. everytime
I come back to update page it says I need it even though
it appeared to install on last attempt. everything else
has installed.

Was your system configured differently the first time that you installed
SP1? When SP1 is installed, it only addresses the current configuration. If
that changes substantially due to other system updates (added hardware or
software packages), it's possible that it needs to be installed again.

If you have a broadband connection download the "Network Installation" - a
stand alone installer of SP1. If you do not have broadband, order the CD.
