A question when updating large files from Windows Update. Can the update be
resumed from where it left off if the connection is broken? I know some web
downloaders provide this, but does it work that way with good old Microsoft?

I am thinking particularly of downloading the NET files which are around 25
MB. I would hate to have to start over if the download were interrupted.

Thanks for your reply.

From my experience, apparently not. It took me 3 tries to download the .NET
Framework, the first 2 timing out after the "idle" limit set in:

IE > Tools > Internet Options > Connections > {Your ISP} > Settings >
(Dial-up) Advanced > Disconnect if idle for ...

which seems to be another different "idle" limit than the ISP sets from its
side.

Also, look at other topics in this NG called "ASP.NET" and ".NET". You may
not need the .NET Framework.
