Windows Update will not scan for updates. It
says "Looking for Updates. 0% complete", & does not
progress. Have not had this problem in the past

Firewall is off. Checked out "troubleshoot". I don't have
an IE entry in add/remove to select repair. Went to the
Windows Components button of ad/remove, selected IE. Got a
screen that said the selected item was being done (?), no
offer of repair.
I checked out the file that was recommended, but have not
done that yet. File is dated April, 2003 & since I keep
all my Windows components up to date, wasn't sure that
could be the problem. What do you think?
By the way, I got the Updates by turning on AutoUpdate,
but still can't scan for updates.

Hi,
Thank you Mike. Just found your reply. What finally
worked ( for unknown reasons) was: turn off Norton
Internet Security & Anti-Virus, completely delete ALL temp
files & any microsoft cookies, close IE & start Update all
over again. I think maybe it was a combo of firewall/pop-
up blocks & a microsoft cookie that was holding some old
info.

Luise,
If you are using any kind of pop-up blocker, turn it off or disable.
