Windows Update will no longer download

When I attempt to download updates at http://www.windowsupdate.com (v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com), the download window appears, but it just hangs and never downloads.

This happened after I uninstalled .Net Framework.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on how I might fix this problem?

Take a look here
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm Select W and scroll
down to Windows Updates.
