I signed up for security bulletin updates from symantec. I
get all the update alerts with hot fix links before they
are even posted in the windows update web page. Sometimes
they both appear about the same day but usually I get the
email from symantec one day, and the next day it shows up
at ms windows update web page. This time, I got the email
from symantec, downloaded the patch, downloaded the
scanner, updated norton, and I run ZA (the free one).
However, the scanner showed "blaster.exe not found on your
system" and a full norton scan showed nothing either. I
still cant get into windows update web page. I get the
following error message: "Send error number to Microsoft
(0x80072EE2)
Note This sends error information but does not create a
support incident; you may or may not receive a response.

I just think this whole coincidence is too coincidental to
be just chance. It may be that I have done something to
have caused that I just dont have any idea what it could
be.
The other suspicious events I noticed at the same time
were the event logs I mentioned in my original post about
the XP firewall not being enabled, (and my system wont
allow me to enable it) and the other event in the log that
indicates that I dont have the supporting files to start
the XP firewall. Along with those events noted, I also
have to mention that the firewall nevertheless appears to
be on since the icon shows up with the telltale padlock.
I am pulling my hair out trying to figure this one out.
Any help, ideas, suggestions, from any of you, is most
greatly appreciated.
Thanks
vet
