It seems that once again Windows Update has stopped updating Win-Def Def
files after 1.5 weeks. During my first installation of WD, I had removed
all it's MSI files, and I thought that this had something to do with it.
But, now, after a second installation I have left all of them in place, but
again it has stooped updating def files. What's is going on? Is there a bug
in the software?

Thanks,
Aerno DS.

Hello Arno,

Hello Duval,

Does AutoUpdate work on your system?
Try going to Windows Update and applying all offered critical updates.
http://update.microsoft.com

AutoUpdate--the native automatic update mode of Windows Defender uses the
BITS service. This service is specifically designed, as I understand it to
minimize bandwidth impact.

Suggest you set Automatic Updates to: Download updates for me, but let
me choose when to install them. You can check/change these settings from
the Automatic Updates tab from the System control panel ªpplet.

You can repair Windows Defender.
First exit WD, Open WD main page, click the down arrow to the right of the
white question mark
in blue circle and then click Exit Windows Defender;
using Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel.
Click WD and click Change. Click Next, and then click Updªte.

Reboot

If you still have the same message, try this:

First exit WD, Open WD main page, click the down arrow to the right of the
white question mark
in blue circle and then click Exit Windows Defender;
using Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel.
Click WD and click Support Information and click Repair.

Reboot.

Hello,

Autoupdate works on mine for every Windows and IE fixes, but not for WD.

Just now you have posted a new update for WD on this news group. I turned on
my BITS and set it to Automatic and tried Windows Update again; there were no
updates available including for WD. I guess I have to download it manually
and install it once again. I even changed my Windows Update setting so it
downloads and I install it.

Thanks,
Arno
