Windows Update site will not work....

When going to the windows update site, It says "Checking for the latest
version of the WIndows Update software (in gray text), but nothing is
happening! This has been like this for days now, and Im not sure what to do.
If anyone can help Id really appreciate it! Thanks.

Windows Update Fails:
Disable your anti-virus when obtaining the updates.
Make sure that your firewall is allowing the connection to Windows Update .
This would be on ports 80 and 443.

I've recently fixed this on one computer. The problem had to do with
javascript failing.

I used spybot S&D to fix it. In the tools menu a tree named BHO had a
browser helper called Clientman. After i uses spybot to disable that
"helper" the problem ended.
