After installing update, described in KB941649, on to my Gateway laptop the
system would lock-up during boot. I had to use the install DVD to to be able
to boot again. I couldn't even go into the safe mode command line. I hope
MS has some resolution for this fairly quickly. Everytime the Explorer
crashes the "Problem Reports and Solutions" window points me to this update.
I would feel more comfortable turning off the auto scan on my Norton 360 if
the MS KB listed it as a requirement.
Has any one found a succesfull work around this?

I tried disabling anti-virus and the firewall, still break the boot. I
also tried turning off the computer and let it sit for 10 minutes with no
power (no bateries or a power supply). The HDD is not being accessed. My
guess is that the update breaks the HDD driver.

I have the same problem as Erol, but I can't use System Restore to use a
previous Restore Point, since the most recent one is only two days old, the
same day I installed the patch. It doesn't matter if I use that restore point
or not; system hangs at bootup via "Start Windows Normally" or "Last Good
Configuration" and at crcdisk.sys via "Safe Mode".
