Windows Update KB931784

Can anybody help me understand why I can not get this windows up date
install(KB931784 valnerablity in windows Kernel could allow elevation of
privilege) It has been sitting in my tray for months now, no matter how many
times I try it wont install.

No, I don't understand why, as it can be caused by any of a number of
reasons. However will you in the Windows Update Newsgroup, which would be the
group to post to, find quite a few posts addressing this problem (and others
regarding KB931784 as well), by a search with "931784" being the key:

You'll see that advices recommending manual install (may be with removing
the KB931784 in case it is shown as installed) is frequently proposed, and
sometimes with a successful outcome.
