Windows update KB828741

I applied windows hotfix update KB828741 to a windows 2000
machine. Now I cannot get 16bit processes to run in the
same NTVDM. The registry switch that is designed to
provide the option of running the processes in the same
NTVDM is ignored.

That is an issue we have been tracking. You can call into Microsoft
Product Support Services and open a case. I believe they are working on a
fix for this issue. Ask them to route you to the COM team as they are
responsible for these issues. Since it is more than likely related to a
bug you will not be charged for the case.

The following fixed the problem for me:

Set the following registry value:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Ole]
"UseSharedWowVDM"="Y"
