Today I noticed a couple of things on a 2000 Server
w/SP3. When I go into Device Manger and attempt to scan
for hardware the utility acts as if it is running but it
is not. It doesn't "hang" the system and Task Manager
status shows running. However I don't think it take 30
minutes and still sits on the same screen. Secondly, I try
to run the Windows Update option, I get to the main screen
that says welcome and same thing it just sits there.
Basically I had to replace a Mammoth2 drive, once the new
drive was installed I had these problem begin I also ran
the file checker utility and WFP restored the "origina
version of the \adpu160m.sys file (Scsi controller), I
have searched high and low on MSTechnotes and can't find
much other than USB issues related with Device Manager -
don't apply. Nothing with regards to the update failing or
not wanting to run. Any help would be appreciated.
