From what I understand one of the windows XP upgrades
released in the last 2 or 3 months has the habit of
interfering with video card drivers... my computer shuts
down whenever I try playing Diablo II:LoD or StarCraft:
BroodWar. My computer doesn't even shut down all the way,
the power light is still on, it's just really faint. Then
I have to turn off the power and restart it manually. My
cousin's computer just shuts down randomly. Bill Gates
better fix this... I've tried downloading the newest
driver updates but that hasn't helped any.

Darrin, are you following the instructions on how to install the drivers
from the manufacturer's web site? One very easy way is to boot into Safe
Mode, which runs only a generic VGA driver, uninstall the old drivers and
then install the latest ones. I would suspect that there's a program like
one of the Norton suites or ZoneAlarm continuing to run in the background
and affecting your installation. Those two items don't quit when you "exit"
from the Systray icon. If you keep having problems, please post back with
information about your graphics card, which drivers you're using and which
patches you've applied for the games. Also, have you run your anti-virus
program with the latest definitions lately?

nVidia recommends that you close all anti-virus program before install the
driver updates. It appears that the anti-virus programs can interfere with
the correct installation of some of the driver files.

Y.
