I live in WY and my parents in GA & today I have helped
them (over the Phone) update their Outlook express to the
latest edition, and help them install Google's new toolbar
to block pop up ads. Since they have never done any
Windows updates - I figured it was time. Every time we
try to update or check for critical updates it give the
following message " Windows update has encountered an
error & canot supply the requested page." We have closed
everything out & shut down the computor one several
occasions. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jeff

Hi Jeff

- is this mentioned PC running Windows XP or Windows 2000?

Try this Fix: (for Windows XP!)

The value for the CSDVersion in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows
needs to be changed to 0. If you are comfortable editing the registry,
follow the instructions below.

1. Click "Start," and then click "Run."
2. In the Open box type regedit and click "OK."
3. Browse in the left frame to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows
4. In the right frame you will see the key CSDVersion. Double click this
key.
5. Change the value to 0 and click "OK."
6. Restart the computer.

Hope this helps. Regards,

Fabio
